About Toto
The band Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs at the time) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The name comes from the Latin word meaning "all all-encompassing," the group was determined to explore every musical style.
The third album by Toto, Turn Back, was an unfulfilling success in 1981. However they came back with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hits with the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour established them as a brand around the world.
After a brief hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. It's a change from the ballads of their previous albums and features some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
During the recording process of the fifth album The group loses its manager and faces financial challenges. They decide to change their name and record a new album with a new producer. It was the first time in more than 31 year that all of Toto's original members were on stage together. In addition to the original members keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
